Description

Truckee, CA

A unique feature of this project was the use of a glycol-based fire sprinkler system to provide reliable freeze protection in areas exposed to cold temperatures. Unlike a traditional wet system, the glycol solution helps prevent water within the sprinkler piping from freezing during winter conditions, ensuring the system remains operational year-round. Careful hydraulic calculations and system coordination were required to balance freeze protection with optimal sprinkler performance. By incorporating a glycol system, the design team was able to provide dependable fire protection while addressing the environmental challenges associated with the building’s location and exposure to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
